Damian Kasprzyk - Temporary exhibition, Polesie in photographs from the 1920s and 1930s. Contrasts, depths, enlargements, Maria Znamierowska-Prüfferowa Ethnographic Museum in Toruń

Between 28 June and 31 October 2019 the Maria Znamierowska-Prüfferowa Ethnographic Museum in Toruń presented an exhibition of photographs from the 1920s and 1930s dedicated to Polesie. It consisted of 153 photographs. The photographers were documentalists and enthusiasts of photography and of Polesie itself. Among them were both "professionals" such as Jan Bułhak (1876-1950) and Józef Szymańczyk (1909-2003) as well as "amateurs" whose works often equalled the works of the masters. Among these, it is worth noting the outstanding ethnographers for whom photography was primarily a documentary tool - Kazimierz Moszyński (1887-1959) and Józef Obrębski (1905-1967). The exhibition was part of the celebration of the centenary of Poland regaining independence.
